  born in cambridge, ma to a liberal couple that escaped the conservative south, my parents raised me better than to become a jehovahs witness.

  funny thing was they got mixed up in it first.. while that is a story for another time, i myself had to go along as the third of five children in my family.

  dads job transferred him to texas and my mom worked fulltime herself, but eventually we found ourselves drinking the kool-aid of ambiguity intolerance and full-fledge belief that the bible was literal fact and that salvation was found only by those who were smart enough to enter the confines of the watchtower.. its weird how many people claim they fear children raised by two gay parents will grow up to be gay.

  Ladino, I had never heard of it, so to be polite and say hello and welcome to you I googled 'How to say hello in Ladino'. lol Presto! Bingo! Easy-peasy fresh apple pie, resulted in the above Ladino reply.

  No, I am not Jewish. I have a varied gene pool including native American from a long time ago, but no Jewish people. Lots of religious English and Scots though.

  I have a near relative who tells me I should seek out Jewish friends and get involved in the Jewish community way of life. He says they are wonderful and loving families who encourage education and getting ahead. (As in opposite JW dumb downed thinking, plus if you do think outside the JW box, the rest of the JW's won't have anything to do with you. That is so sick and unnatural).

  You sound like a treasure. When you are ready for it, I hope you find the love of your life.

  How many here gave up having a family for the sake of the "truth"?

  this is a sensitive topic for many of us i know, but i am wondering how many here actually gave up the idea of having a family "in this system" for the sake of "kingdom activity or service"??.

  Stumpy and wife, I am so very sorry this happened to you. I know of others still in that have no children, some single some married. Some too old and others at the cusp of being too old. This is a horrible man made up publishing house's fault for putting their own interests ahead of anyone else's.

  Myself, I wanted children. Lots of children. It would have brought me joy. During my 30's, if I saw a mom pregnant or pushing a stroller, I had to look away so I wouldn't cry. I didn't go to baby showers. It hurt too much. I got pregnant when I was 40 but lost the child. I had always hoped I would have it again in WT's 'Paradise' along with 20, 30, 60 (lol) or more children. (Or as many as I was allowed in WT's 'Paradise').

  I just wanted to say I feel for you and all of us who's lives were twisted in a way we would not have planned, if we had not been JW's.

  Trying to live the rest of my life without being bitter.

  i'm new to this forum.. i was raised in " the truth" from age six and now i am in my mid 60's.

  my wife was born in " the truth" and is very strong in the religion.

  i have had many experiences during my lifetime with the other members of several congregations.

  I've been out for 3 years and I am the happiest of my life!

  We were not stupid! We were guillible and innocent.

  I hope you are able to wake your wife up gently. It is so wonderful when a family wakes up together.

  it has been some time since i last posted or even visited the site, and i wondered why that was.

  life continued to be difficult without a network of friends to look forward to seeing.

  the novelty of being disfellowshipped wore off, and the mundane advanced as it did every day.

  15 Years of Jehovahs-Witness.com

  yes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.

  i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.

  the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

  Three years ago, today, I was still a true blue believer. The next day at 5PM, I started reading C of C. Reading through the night, by 5AM March 25, 2012, LoisLane was out!

  I had never looked at an XJW forum until the following August. After looking over what was available, I found this one was more to my liking.

  Like most of you I was lost for a while. My whole world had fallen apart. I had been lied to my entire life. This Forum, helped me to pick up the pieces and move forward.

  I am forever grateful Simon and to everyone else who held out a light and a helping hand to lead me to life where there is happiness and freedom and joy. The last number of months have been the happiest of my life. I go to bed happy and wake up happy. I have purpose in my life and that purpose has nothing to do with JW.org. They are a disgusting man made up business disguised as a fear mongering, Christian religion. I want nothing to do with them. Caleb and Sophia? Singing rolly carts? Spanz and bright socks and the laughable masturbating talks for the hearing impaired. I read it all here first. lol

  My academic career !

  i've decided to graduate at the end of this year (2015).

  i need 69 credit points to graduate successfully at my university, and i already have about 80. i also have to write a capstone essay (of 5000 words) on a ancient history topic.

  in addition, i'm doing two other 5000 word research essays this year.

  in my wanderings around the net i have discovered some very interesting things.

  this particular piece is based on a training session for colporteurs during the believers in the atonement sacrifice of christ convention held in ashbury park new jersey july 22-29, 1906. .
